Zoom Airlines is planning new flights from Belfast to Canada.

The Canadian-based company hopes to have a Belfast-Vancouver service in operation by next summer.

Zoom's announcement comes as it celebrates its first flight from Belfast International to Toronto via Halifax.

Debbie Marshall, the airline's UK director, said that they were pleased with the popularity of the Wednesday service.

"Due to the unprecedented demand on our Toronto service we are planning to expand our Belfast flights programme for next summer with the introduction of a direct Belfast to Vancouver," she said.

Zoom Airlines was incorporated in May 2002 and was "created to fill an emerging opportunity in the Canadian leisure travel market". Prices for full service flights to Belfast start from £89 one way.

Customers using the new service may wish to start their holiday a night earlier and relax in one of Belfast's airport hotels.
