Cyprus Airways has announced that it will be running flights from Stansted to the Middle East and the Gulf via Larnaca.

Destinations are to include Dubai, Beirut, Cairo, Damascus and Tel Aviv.

Paul Haynes, business development executive at BAA Stansted, expressed his delight at the new service.

"Some of these destinations aren’t yet available direct from Stansted, so the opportunity to book easy connections with Cyprus Airways has been great news for passengers bound for the Middle East and Gulf," he said.

Cyprus Airways has been working in partnership with BAA to increase traffic to Larnaca and Paphos.

Andreas Agathou, Cyprus Airways regional manager for the UK & Ireland, commented: "Our current efforts to promote traffic beyond Cyprus are promising because it will give the travelling public good alternatives to reach the destinations they wish."

The airline can also offer overnight acommodation where required. Stansted Airport itself also boasts a selection of airport accommodation for travellers.
