The main building structure at Heathrow's terminal five has just been completed and this landmark achievement is to be celebrated.

Due to open in March 2008, the new terminal is the equivalent size of 50 football pitches - which is as large as London's Hyde Park.

The opening of Heathrow's terminal five will massively increase the shops and services that the airport can offer its customers.

Airport hotel accommodation should be more extensive than it is already, and the terminal will also improve parking, shopping and dining experiences.

The terminal will enable Heathrow to see an extra 30 million passengers pass through annually, so customers may find it convenient to pre-book airport services such as hotel accommodation, before they arrive at the airport.

When fully operational, the £4.2 billion terminal five will provide Britain's biggest airport with an additional 47 aircraft stands, increasingly the number of flights and destinations the airport offers.

A 600-bed hotel, a car park, a world-class public interchange, a new rail station and extensions to the Heathrow Express and Piccadilly lines have already been planned to cope with the extra traffic.
