New research has shown that when it comes to booking holidays online, UK customers cite value as one of the main reasons for doing so.

UK consumers who took part in a survey agree that online booking gives value for money, and when booking airport hotels and airport parking at the same time, makes the process efficient and convenient.

A total of 27 per cent of Britons asked said their reason for booking a holiday online was the price, compared to just 21 per cent of Germans and 16 per cent of the French.

UK travellers also liked the fact that they could use the internet to compare prices, with 32 per cent stating this advantage as a good reason to book online.

Philip Wolf, CEO of PhoCusWright, who carried out the research, said that overall Europeans enjoy being able to organise their own holidays, saying: 'Online travel is not a commodity in Europe.'

Furthermore, the research showed that Europeans are brand loyal, choosing to stick to a reliable brand rather than going for the cheapest option.

Pre-booking airport hotels online can also be a cost effective method of reserving accommodation, as many offer online discounts such as free parking or a family special deal.
