Birmingham International Airport has announced expansion plans, which include a second runway and third passenger terminal.

Birmingham's existing runway is also to be extended, and it is hoped that the growth will allow 33 million travellers to annually pass though the airport's doors by 2030.

Richard Heard, managing director of the airport, told the BBC that the airport should 'continue to grow and develop' along with the region.

However, Friends of the Earth are concerned that the development would lead to loss of green belt land and more pollution for the region.

If you are travelling to Birmingham International Airport, you might wish to consider pre-booking any airport hotel accommodation and airport car parking you require.

Reservations can be made online so that travel arrangements are organised before setting off for the airport, leaving you free to relax and concentrate on the trip ahead.

Birmingham's expansion scheme will require approval from Solihull Council if it is to go ahead and so it awaits the council's decision.
