This week has seen Thomsonfly's winter flight programme kick off at Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

The airport is celebrating seven months of being open and this is the first time winter season flights will run from the hub.

Thomsonfly now operates a twice-weekly service to Gran Canaria and also flies three times a week service to Tenerife

One-way fares to these Canary Island destinations start at £54.99, including taxes and charges.

Flights to Amsterdam will also begin today and a one-way ticket will start from £19.99, including taxes and charges.

The carrier has announced it is to begin flights to Lyon, France's second city, in time for the skiing season and will also continue flights to Malaga, Alicante, Paris, Faro, Jersey and Prague.

Maria Heckel, marketing director for Thomsonfly, said: 'This is the first winter season Thomsonfly has flown out of Doncaster and encouraging booking figures since going on sale back in June shows that the new destinations of the Canary Islands and Lyon are already proving popular.'

If are using the new hub, why not consider pre-booking an airport hotel?

Airport hotels usually offer free airport parking for the duration of your stay when you book one night's free accommodation.
