Low cost airline bmi is to commence flights from Heathrow Airport to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Starting from April 23rd 2006, the carrier will fly directly to Saudi's capital three times a week.

According to Travel Daily News, this makes bmi the only UK airline to offer a link to the country's commercial heart.

The launch follows the success of bmi's new service to Heathrow to Riyadh, which flies three times a week, something which Nigel Turner, bmi's chief executive, is extremely encouraged about.

'I am confident that, as with Riyadh, we will again benefit from the support and encouragement of both the UK and Saudi governments in making our new service to Jeddah another success story,' he said.

'By adding new destinations and increasing frequencies to our services at Heathrow we are creating a long haul network and profile that will further build and enhance our reputation in this market,' finished Mr Turner.

If you are travelling from Heathrow Airport, make sure you book your airport hotel accommodation in advance.

Airport hotel accommodation can be reserved online, so wherever you are in the world, you can always pre-book your room with a click of a mouse.
