American airlines have listened to their British flyers and have promised to clean their aircraft on a more regular basis. The lapse in more frequent cleaning has been blamed on the cuts bought in since the September 11 attacks which meant that airliners were flying out in a bad state. Allowing passengers to bring on their own food has made the situation even worse. Delta Airlines, which has a fleet of 438 aircraft, has acknowledged that the interior of many of their aircraft needed more frequent and deeper cleaning. They would introduce a revised programme of deep cleaning, saying that the problem of dirty lavatories and food debris were unacceptable to their clients.
