The SAS Radisson Hotel at Manchester Airport will be hosting a fundraising event for charity this Valentines. The ball will raise funds for the When You Wish Upon a Star charity and feature musical and comedic performances.

The charity event was organized by local teenager, Kirsty Ashton. The 17-year old girl has a nerve condition known as neurofibromatosis. Instead of focusing on her own condition, the Pride of Manchester Award recipient is raising money to help 100 sick and dying children on the journey of a lifetime.

Kirsty’s condition requires her to use metal rods fitted to her back in order to support her spine. She said: "I know from my own experience that having something to look forward to makes you forget about the pain. I want to give other children who are in the same situation something to look forward to."

She’s hoping the trip to Lapland will give 100 children with problems like hers something to look forward to, but to do that she needs to raise an additional £65,000.

The glamorous Valentines ball at the SAS Radisson Hotel at Manchester Airport is her way of doing just that. Stockport comedian Vince Miller will be hosting the event which will include music from The Mersey Beatles and X Factor boy band Eaton Road.

The black-tie event will take place on Saturday February 16th. Tickets cost £59 per seat or £695 for a table of 12.
