The awards ceremony was held on Thursday 17 July in Singapore at The Marriott Hotel, and gave recognition to the leaders in Asian travel, acknowledging their work in promoting the region’s hospitality and tourism sectors.

Nominations are received by a judging panel for the TravelWeekly (Asia) Industry Awards, and the judges then decide on a suitable list of possible honourees for each category. Actual awardees are determined by votes cast by TravelWeekly readers and industry representatives. Votes cast for this year’s winners totalled 2.2 million, across all categories.

The general manager of Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel Tristan Beau de Lomenie, accepted the award and said: “It is a great honour for our hotel to receive such a high profile award. Although we have been in operation for less than two years, I personally believe that our uniqueness in facilities and more importantly service quality has distinguished us as an outstanding airport hotel. This award is the encouragement for us to maintain our service excellence and strive to improve it even further.”

The hotel was opened on 28 September 2006, coinciding with the opening of the new Bangkok International Airport, known as Suvarnabhumi Airport. The Novotel is less than 10 minutes by foot from the arrivals area of the airport, and shuttles are available every 10 minutes, operating between the terminal and hotel as well.

Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel was also honoured, last year, as one of the three ‘Best Airport Hotels in Asia Pacific for Meeting & Conference’ by CEI Asia Pacific.
