Flights will make a stop in Reykjavik, and passengers will have the option of stopping over in Iceland at no additional cost.

Manchester to Seattle service will also be initiated, but passengers will be required to spend the night in Iceland.

Boeing 757 aircraft, configured in three service classes, will operate on both routes.

From 22 July, four departures each week from London will operate, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays departing Heathrow at 13.00 and arriving Seattle at 16.45, local time.

In cooperation with Alaska Airlines, Icelandic has scheduled arrivals in Seattle to connect easily with onward services to destinations throughout the western US and Canada, including cities such as Anchorage, Calgary, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and Vancouver.

From Seattle, flights depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 15.30, and arrive at London Heathrow at 11.45 the next day.

In spite of the economic downturn, the carrier believes that the new Seattle service will be popular with its customers, as it provides them with a cost-effective way to visit a number of destinations in the western US and Canada.
