Over 2,000 British adults responded to a recent Travelsupermarket.com survey, and 10 per cent of them indicated that they were more likely to visit a British holiday park this summer than before, due largely to the credit crunch.

The online travel price comparison website learned in the survey that some nostalgic Brits were considering taking their summer holidays this year at parks such as Butlins, Center Parcs, Haven or Pontins, even though approximately six per cent indicated that they hadn’t visited a holiday park since they were youngsters.

Travelsupermarket.com travel expert Bob Atkinson commented: “The humble holiday camp has come a long way since its invention in the 1950s, offering more activities, better accommodation and greater value for money than ever before.”

Atkinson went on to say: “While Glamorous Granny and Knobbly Knees competitions are long gone, the entertainment has been updated for people of all generations to reflect today’s needs. From indoor water parks to spa experiences, sporting activities to performances from X-Factor stars and TV personalities, the array of activities on offer caters to all markets.”
