Hilton Garden Inn to open near London Luton

While many hotel industries are turning their attention to London at the moment, the Hilton Garden Inn is expanding its scope and will be opening a new venue at Luton.

Located just 50 miles to the north of London, Luton is a major gateway to the city as it is connected by road and rail. Luton also has its own airport and the new 250-bedroom hotel will be situated on Kimpton Road, just a five-minute walk from the airport terminal.

It has just been announced that the Hilton Garden Inn will be opening its doors in 2011. This is actually the second Hilton Garden Inn to be located in Luton and the Hilton brand are building on the success of their other hotel, which is located on Luton’s Butterfield Business Park.

Patrick Fitzgibbon is the Senior Vice President of Development for Europe & Africa at Hilton. In a recent interview he revealed that the company if delighted to confirm its second site in Luton, following the success of its first Hilton garden Inn property there. He pointed out that Luton airport is among the UK’s fastest growing airports, and said the city if set to benefit from a major regenerations scheme.

Fitzgibbon said the announcement also marks further growth in the Hilton brand’s partnership with the Ability Group, which he said has shown tremendous commitment to the Hilton group.

This is good news for the residents of Luton as the hotel will need to take on as many as 70 new employees and additional staff are expected to join the exisiting hotel over the next few months as well.
