JD Power’s European Guest Satisfaction Study this year has again named Premier Inn as the leading budget hotel on the continent. A total of forty-two hotel chains were compared, with ratings from over 13,000 hotel guests who had stayed at competing hotel properties between the months of May and September this year.

The guests rated the hotels based on criteria like costs, facilities, accommodation, food and beverages, checking in and out, hotel services and also reservations.

Premier Inn trumped other contenders like Comfort Inn, Etap hotel and Travelodge to emerge in the number one slot in the budget hotel segment. Park Inn edged competitors like Best Western and Clarion to secure the best hotel chain accolade for the mid-scale segment.

An interesting outcome of the survey was the revelation that guests have been widely satisfied with customer service in general, indicating that industry standards have not dropped in the face of the global recession. Sixty-nine percent of the people surveyed said they would be happy to return to the same hotel, and seventy-nine percent said they would be recommending the hotel to friends and acquaintances.
