The Hilton London Heathrow Airport hotel is celebrating 20 years of commercial and design success with the launch of a new executive lounge. The upgraded new lounge, designed by Design Coalition, is located on the first floor of the hotel, off the atrium. The lounge seats up to 64 guests. The design infuses a Scandinavian theme through the use of colour and furniture from designer Arne Jacobsen based on 1950s’ style. The lounge’s design is aimed at giving guests a waiting experience that exceeds what they would get at a VIP airport lounge.

The new lounge inherits an architectural heritage that has for 20 years drawn praise from a range of important guests. The hotel has won design awards as well as the compliments of Michael Palin and JG Ballard. More than 3.5 million guests have stayed at the hotel since it first opened in 1990. The Hilton London Heathrow Airport is considered one of the most exciting of Britain’s hotel buildings and has influenced the evolution of design in British hotels. The hotel’s popular restaurant has entertained famous guests including singers Lionel Richie and Rod Stewart, Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton, and actor Sean Connery. The Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu have also dined at the hotel.
