Luxury hotel brand JW Marriott has opened its newly built property in the Mexican capital.

The JW Marriott Mexico City Santa Fe, set in one of the city’s most renowned neighbourhoods, opened its doors for the first time at the weekend, marking the launch of the second JW Marriott property in Mexico City.

The opening 221-room facility comes in partnership with operator Grupo Diestra, according to a press release issued on Monday. Officials from the brand, which according to Marriott is “reserved for select luxury properties in key gateway cities”, said that the new facility was a major addition its Latin American portfolio and would bring the “highest level” of accommodation to the area.

The property is situated in the affluent Santa Fe residential neighbourhood and offers two full-service restaurants, 24-hour room service, a lobby bar, a fitness centre and the exclusive Oriental Wellness Spa, which features Jacuzzis, vapour rooms, saunas and a range of massage and health treatments. All guest rooms offer Nespresso coffee machines, aromatherapy toiletries, high-speed internet and plasma TVs.

Mitzi Gaskins, global brand manager and vice president of JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts at Marriott International, said that the firm was confident that the new property would become a Mexico City landmark.
