Hotel industry conglomerate Wyndham is to open its first property in Bahrain, the company announced this week.

Officials from Wyndham Hotels Group said on Wednesday that the company was investing some $2 million (£1.24 million) into a five-star facility in Manama’s Bahrain Bay development, with a target opening day falling some time in the latter half of 2013.

According to a press release issued by Wyndham – the world’s biggest hotelier – the hotel will provide one of the central highlights to Bahrain Bay Development B.S.C, which features a wide assortment of retail, residential, office and commercial space. Dubbed the Wyndham Grand Manama, it will sit directly adjacent to the project’s World Trade Center.

Officials said that the Wyndham Grand Manama will become the newest edition to the firm's top-tier Wyndham Grand Collection. The 50-storey property will offer some 260 high-end guestrooms, as well as an exclusive health club, swimming pools and around a half-dozen restaurants and bars.

The move comes just a week after Wyndham announced an aggressive growth strategy in India, in which it plans to open some 80 new hotels and resorts within a five-year period.
