Monarch Airlines customers flying from Leeds Bradford airport this winter can check skis for free.

According to an official press release issued last week, travellers headed to any of the carrier’s ski destinations can save £39.98 on ski carriage fees and can take advantage of free resort guides and through the airline’s new special ski holiday website. Reservations must be made prior to 31 December and the promotion includes flights to Munich and Grenoble.

The move comes alongside Monarch’s freshly expanded service between Leeds Bradford and numerous winter sports destinations.

“The launch of these ski routes for winter 2012/13 marks an exciting new era for Monarch. We are targeting a new customer base of skiers which is strengthened by the addition of services from Leeds Bradford Airport, launching this winter,” said Kevin George, Monarch Airlines’ managing director.

Leeds Bradford airport commercial director Tony Hallwood said regarding the airline’s new routes, “Munich and Grenoble are ideally situated for easy access to the Alps and a wide variety of premier ski resorts. As well as skiing and snowboarding the Apres-Ski is also excellent with great bars and restaurants to choose from. Both destinations will cater perfectly for skiers of all abilities.”
