Global hotel brand Hilton has launched a new property at London’s Luton airport.

Officials from Hilton Worldwide said on Thursday that operations were officially underway at Hampton by Hilton Luton Airport, which is situated less than one mile from the airport terminal.

The facility is also located close to Capability Green Business Park, and officials said a press release that the facility also provides an ideal venue for meetings and events.

Hilton Worldwide’s president of Europe, Middle East and Africa operations, Simon Vincent, said in a statement that Luton continues to see a growing number of passengers each year. He noted that the new mid-market property was specifically targeted at those travelling via low-cost airlines, which account for around 85 per cent of all Luton passengers.

Meanwhile, Steve Cassidy, the company’s VP for the UK and Ireland, told media that the Hampton by Hilton brand has been a major source of growth for Hilton over the last several years.

The company said in the release that the 188-room Hampton by Hilton Luton Airport offers travellers many of the brand’s signature amenities, including free hot breakfasts, unlimited wireless internet access and an exclusive 24-hour fitness centre.
