Employees and Associates of the London Heathrow Marriott spent a full day sprucing up The Friends of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park.

According to a press release issued on Friday (14 December), friends of the hotel spent the day removing overgrown vegetation in the effort of attracting new visitors to the green space in East London.

The event took place on 8 November from 09:00 onward; in addition to friends of the hotel the effort included the aid of volunteers and neighbourhood residents.

Jim Shields, head of the Green Team for London Heathrow Marriott said in a statement that everyone involved had stayed around through most of the day and that it quickly became apparent that the effort had really “made a difference” in the park. He added that the team had worked hard but that everyone enjoyed contributing as well.

Additional Marriott employees taking part in the effort included general manager Ron Vos, Oksana Zadvornaya from the finance department, Marissa Hu from housekeeping and Freddie Gubatanga from engineering.

The London Heathrow Marriott is located less than a mile from Heathrow airport; the facility has recently refurbished its onsite Leisure Club.
