Brewery Square in Dorset is to see the launch of its first hotel following a refurbishment effort, officials said on Wednesday.

The Premier Inn property is to be part of a major development effort in the Dorset community and will also see the opening of a cinema, shopping area and several restaurants.

Developers said that construction on the £100 million project will begin soon on the site of the former Eldridge Pope brewery. No date has yet been announced as to when the facilities will open.

The news comes following the October launch of phase one of the neighbourhood-wide revitalisation effort, which saw the launch of several dining outlets and a cinema at Dray Horse Yard. An additional opening was set to take place late last year, although the launch will now take place in April after having been delayed due to excessively wet conditions in the autumn.

Premier Inn officials said that the new property as the 130-year-old brewery site will offer 76 bedrooms and that the company will open bookings at the end of March.

According to the BBC, the site may also see the launch of a yet-to-be-named four-star hotel property.
