Hotel chain Sheraton has said that it plans to launch 30 new hotels in 2013.

Officials from the brand’s parent firm, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, said this week that the move is part of the company’s ambitious growth strategy, which is largely focused on the Asia-Pacific region.

The bulk of the new properties – 15 hotels – will open this year in China, notably the Sheraton Huzhou Hot Spring Resort. Located in Zhejiang Province, Starwood officials said the resort is a key property for the growth effort.

Meanwhile, the brand will see a handful of new hotels opened in South America later in the year, including two new hotels in Brazil as the company looks to prepare for the 2014 FIFA World Cup as well as the Summer Olympics in 2013.

Additionally, two properties will be launching in Turkey – one in the city of Bursa as well as in the southern city of Adana – whilst the brand will also be expanding its presence in Dubai via the forthcoming Sheraton Dubai Mall of Emirates.

Sheraton Hotels global brand leader Hoyt Harper said in a statement that the company is highly anticipating “record growth” in the coming years, which he added will see the opening of the firm’s 500th property in 2015.
