Officials from the firm said in an official press release issued this week that the upscale Radisson Blu Sheremetyevo Airport Hotel will feature 379 bedrooms and is slated to open in the first half of 2014. It will be linked to the airport via a new walkway and will offer two restaurants, two bars, meeting rooms, an exclusive health club and a panoramic view of the airfield.

The property will be under the ownership of Norway-based operator Wenaasgruppen, which currently owns a total of 9 Rezidor hotels with some 9,000 guestrooms.

The Radisson Blu Sheremetyevo Airport Hotel will be the second Rezidor property in the vicinity of the Moscow airport; the hotelier is already represented in the area via the Park Inn by Radisson Sheremetyevo.

Rezidor’s president and chief executive Wolfgang M. Neumann said in a statement that the deal with Wenaasgruppen would further solidify the organisation’s presence as one of Europe’s primary airport hotel firms. He added that it would also help to further the company’s profile as the largest international hotel operator in Russia.
