Hotel conglomerate Hilton Worldwide is celebrating the launch of its 4,000th hotel property.

Officials from the Virginia-based company said in a press release issued on Wednesday that the firm had officially opened the doors on its 4,000th hotel – the Hilton Shijiazhuang in the Chinese province of Hebei.

The move comes amid the company’s aggressive and ongoing expansion strategy; Hilton claims to have been the fastest-growing global hotel firm for more than five years running.

Emerging markets remain the focal points of the expansion effort. Hilton now has 35 properties open in Mainland China and has more than 120 properties in the pipeline for the region, according to the release.

Hilton’s president and chief executive Christopher J. Nassetta said in a statement that 2013 has been an “exceptional” year thus far, noting that all of the firm’s brands have seen “unprecedented” growth in all regions of the world.

Among the fastest growing brands, DoubleTree by Hilton is slated to add nearly 60 new properties to its portfolio this year, whilst the flagship Hilton brand now has its most ambitious development pipeline in more than nine decades of history.
