London-based hotel firm InterContinental Hotels Group is to open a new property in Rayong, Thailand.

Breaking Travel News reported at the weekend that IHG officials have signed an agreement with regional hotel operator Felicity Asset Co. Ltd; the deal will see the construction of a new 300-bedroom hotel in the centre of Muang Rayong, about 180kms southeast of Bangkok.

Officials said in a press release that the Holiday Inn & Suites Rayong City Centre will be the city centre’s first internationally branded property.

Managing director Pattamaporn Nokhong said on behalf of Felicity Asset Co. that Rayong continues to attract a large number of business travellers because of its convenient location near some of the country’s largest industrial estates.

Meanwhile, IHG’s chief operating officer of Southeast Asia Clarence Tan said in a statement that the property will provide guests with the level of quality and consistency they expect from the Holiday Inn brand.

The property will feature 240 guest rooms and 60 upscale suites, in addition to a rooftop restaurant and bar, as well as a fitness centre, swimming pool and extensive meeting/conference facilities.
