UK-based hotel giant InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is expanding its Holiday Inn brand in the United States.

According to an official press release issued on Friday, the firm has launched plans to open a new Holiday Inn hotel in the city of Nashville, Tennessee, as well as the small tourist city of Deadwood, South Dakota.

The move will bring the number of Holiday Inn brand properties worldwide to 38 amid the London-based conglomerate’s ambitious expansion efforts.

IHG’s chief development officer for the Americas Joel Eisemann said in a statement that the Holiday Inn Resort brand continues to see growth in numerous development markets. He went on to add that the two forthcoming additions in the US would help to further strengthen the brand’s presence in the region.

The Nashville property will make use of the iconic Fontanel Mansion, currently owned by country music legend Barbara Mandrell. The resort will feature some 140 guest rooms and will be open by mid-2015, according to the release.
