Stansted is the fourth busiest airport in the UK, the fastest growing major airport in Europe, and the main home of the leading low-cost scheduled airlines.

A £60 million extension to the terminal building opened in April 2002.

Stansted Airport is set to grow to serve 25 million passengers per annum by 2010 - in September 2002 its local planning authority approved a £250 million further investment.

BAA will have invested around £1 billion in Stansted by 2010.
