Bristol Airport looks set for expansion as Air Malta announces plans to base an airliner there permanently.

Following a successful summer season jetting holidaymakers to destinations all over the world, Air Malta has decided to fly from Bristol year-round.

Over the winter months, Air Malta will fly to Hurgada in Egypt and also offer extra seats on flights bound for the tourism spot of Sharm El Sheik.

Welcoming the growth, aviation development director Tony Hallwood told the Western Daily Press: "They have already created 35 new jobs at Bristol supporting the local economy and providing holidaymakers and property owners with a fantastic range of flights right across Europe."

The airline has also commenced weekly flights to Malta, which have attracted record bookings.

Due to expected increases in passenger numbers, customers wishing to use airport services such as airport hotel accommodation may wish to consider booking in advance.
