Airport provider BAA has announced that it has gone into partnership with Digital Rum, to offer a new airport information service for mobile phones.

The new i-mode site offers customers the ability to obtain information about BAA's seven UK airports.

It also features live flight information, so that travellers can find out if they will be delayed and details of airport amenities such as shops and services.

Customers will also be able to pre-book useful travel services such as airport car parking, travel insurance, lounges and currency.

The new service will be available to customers at Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Southampton airports.

'BAA is excited to be working with Digital Rum in developing this new digital channel for our unique content,' said Tom Voice, director of IT at BAA Retail.

At most airports around the UK, travel services such as airport hotel accommodation and airport parking can be pre-booked.

Most airport hotels offer an online booking facility so that customers do not have to face extra hassle on arrival at the airport.
