Passengers have placed a clean and spacious bathroom as the most important feature on board an aircraft in a recent survey of airline amenities.

Of a group of over 2,000 global travellers, 35 per cent said that a decent bathroom was their top priority when it comes to in-flight comfort.

In addition, 27 per cent felt that clean blankets and pillows are a necessity, while 54 per cent said that they would pay for more legroom and larger seats if they could.

The director of communications for TripAdvisor, which conducted the survey, Michelle Perry said: 'According to this survey, airlines should forget about the latest bells and whistles and get back to the basics, like clean bathrooms and comfortable seating.'
