The massive new terminal built for the biggest airline in the world at one of the world's busiest airports opened another stage of its development recently. Terminal 9 at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, New York, USA has constructed a $1.3 billion structure for American Airlines.

The huge 36-gate terminal began landing international flights in may of this year, and this summer a number of services have slowly been coming into full operation. Two new lounges are now available in the terminal; the Admirals Club, for high-rolling paying members and the first-class lounge dubbed the Flagship now have their doors open for business.

The terminal also makes use of several new design features to improve service, flow of traffic and faster processing times through security checkpoints. The first feature that may seem disconcerting for passengers not used to the new generation of airports, is the check-in desks being organized perpendicular to the entrance istead of parallel. This design has been used in most new major airports built in the last few years.
