The Marriott hotel chain is a trusted brand in the hospitality industry in North America, but has yet to make a big splash in the Scandinavian countries of Europe. All that is about to change, with Marriott Hotels announcing it will open no les than 15 new hotels in Finland, Norway and Sweden from now until 2013.

The deal was struck between Marriott International and The Scandinavian Hospitality Group to open the brands of Marriott Executive Apartments, Courtyard and Marriott Renaissance. The first two hotels to be built will be the Courtyard by mariott Stockholm in the Swedish capital and another Courtyard by Marriott in the Norwegian town of Kristiansund.

Chief Financial Officer and European president of Marriott International Arne Sorenson says, 'We are thrilled that soon travelers to Scandinavia will be able to stay in a Marriott International-branded hotel. Having a strong presence in the region has been a strategic objective of ours for a long time. We are equally delighted to be working with the Scandinavian Hospitality Group. They are an experienced hotel company with a proven track record of successfully operating major brands. We are confident that these two properties will be popular and successful with the traveling public.'
