With over 20 airport hotels to chose from and a brand new executive lounge, it's no wonder that Gatwick Airport was recently recognized as Britain's favorite airport.

Readers of The Daily and Sunday Telegraph newspapers voted on their Favorite British Airport in a recent survey. The winner was received 30,000 votes and was announced in Tenerife at the Association of British Travel Agents convention.

Although there was no serious competition from London's busiest airport, Heathrow, Gatwick did have to beat out Manchester and Birmingham for the title.

This is not the first accolade Gatwick has won this year. At the recent Travel Bulletin Awards, Gatwick was named the Best UK Airport and at the British Travel Awards earlier in the year, Gatwick won the title of Favorite UK Leisure Airport.

Gatwick's managing director, Andy Flower, said: "It is always an enormous pleasure to receive any accolade, but when it's been chosen by the people who use our terminals, it is all the more rewarding."

There are over 20 hotels within range of Gatwick Airport, from two to four star accommodations. Whether it's the luxurious Gatwick Sofitel Hotel, or the Gatwick Hilton, or the more homely Gatwick Holiday Inn, there's plenty of variety.
