Edinburgh Airport is likely to get a multi-million pound hotel if the scheme is accepted by Councillors today. If the Councillors approve the project, a 97 bed hotel room will be built at Ratho Station, on a vacant site opposite Glasgow Road.

The hotel was proposed by Ratho ParkVentures and is designed to appeal to business travelers and other visitors to the city.

If approval is granted, developers would like to find a major hotel chain to partner them in the £4.5 million enterprise.

If built, the new development would become the third airport hotel at Edinburgh Airport, joining the ranks of the Hilton and the Quality Hotel. Planning officials have already backed the project, claiming that it will create new local jobs and "contribute to the local economy".

Alan Henderson, the city’s head of planning and strategy said in a report to councillors, "A recent visitor accommodation study has concluded that additional hotel accommodation is required near the airport."
