When flying out of Heathrow’s Terminal 5, there’s always the possibility that nearby accommodation may be needed. A new hotel, Travelodge, is not only conveniently located to T5, it’s just a few minutes’ drive from Terminal 4 as well.

The hotel’s rooms are quite basic but comfortable, featuring air-conditioning and flat-screen televisions. The rooms don’t have telephones, however, so it’s a good idea to have a mobile phone close by. Short-term car parking is good value at £5 a night, which is less costly than at nearby airport car parks.

There’s a bar and café that serves draft lager and hearty fare such as steak and ale pie and stone-baked pizzas. The bar boasts two large televisions, one running sports and the other pop videos.

In the same area there’s a serve-yourself hot and cold breakfast buffet served in the morning – also good value, with the price at £7.50 for adults and no charge for accompanied children under 16.

Twice-hourly buses provide service to T5, costing £4 one way, and the hotel has made arrangements with a local taxi operator for a fare of £10 to T4 or T5.
