The UK travel company has recently completed the refurbishment of 13 of its properties at a cost of £7 million, and added five new hotels to the programme.

Each of the properties is rated at three stars and located in a popular UK holiday destination. Locations include Weston-super-Mare, Exmouth, Bournemouth, Scarborough, Bath, Windermere, Tenby, Harrogate, Keswick, Chollerford, Pitlochry and Portpatrick.

The Coast and Country programme launch follows the Shearings announcement that bookings at its 49 UK hotels have risen by 10 per cent, on average, over the same period in 2008.

Fiona Greenhalgh, head of sales and marketing at Shearings, said: “By investing in this collection of hotels and creating the new Coast and Country brand, our aim is to extend our appeal to self-drive customers and a younger market who may not have previously considered a Shearings holiday.”

She added: “All the hotels enjoy stunning locations and a high standard of service, accommodation and dining. Each property is also unique in appearance, period and character which sets the collection apart from other hotel chains and gives agents something different to offer customers.”
