The special room rate is available for stays throughout the month of August and is offered by a number of hotels participating in a major tourism promotion sponsored by the tourism body Visit Leeds. Some of the properties involved in the promotion are the 17th-century Weetwood Hall Hotel, the boutique hotel 42 The Calls and the city’s newest hotel, opening on 3 August, the City Inn.

The hotel promotion is part of the tourism drive aimed at enticing travellers to visit Leeds, enjoying a city break at a destination rich in attractions and opportunities for interesting days out.

August is seen as an ideal time for sports fans to visit Leeds, as one of the top sporting events in the world will be held at Headingley Carnegie stadium beginning Friday, 7 August. The Ashes cricket series will offer fans five days of what is anticipated to be nail-biting excitement.

Amanda Bond, who is the leisure tourism spokesperson for Visit Leeds, noted: “With accommodation in Leeds costing from as little as £10 at some of the city’s top hotels, taking the opportunity to experience more from one of the UK’s most vibrant and cosmopolitan cities has never been easier, or more cost effective.”
