Hotel giant Accor has opened its 500th hotel in the Asia-Pacific region.

The news follows this week’s launch of the luxurious Pullman Gurgaon Central Park hotel in New Delhi, officials from the conglomerate said in a press release issued on Monday. The landmark property is also the debut of the Pullman brand in the Indian market.

Accor chairman and chief executive Denis Hennequin said in a statement that the move reaffirmed the company’s position as the top hotel operator in Asia-Pacific, noting that it was a key growth market. He went on to say that the Pullman Gurgaon Central Park was an “anchor” for Accor’s regional growth ambitions and that India’s importance to the firm’s growth strategy made it an appropriate location for the 500th Accor hotel in the region.

Pullman joins five other Accor brands already present in India: Novotel, Ibis, Mercure, Formule 1 and Sofitel.

The Pullman Gurgaon Central Park is situated in the New Delhi satellite community of Gurgaon and features 285 guest rooms and some 17,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

According to the press release, Accor aims to launch its 700th property in Asia-Pacific by 2015 and is already the leading hotel conglomerate in Australia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand.
