Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has announced that it will soon begin construction on a large property in Austin, Texas.

The luxury hotelier said in a press release issued on Wednesday that it had signed a deal with Manchester Texas Financial Group LLC (MTFG) to manage the new facility, which is slated to commence operations in 2015.

Titled The Fairmont Austin, the new hotel will be situated adjacent to the Austin Convention Center at the corner of Red River and Caesar Chavez streets, officials said. The $350 million investment will be designed by Gensler Austin and will feature the brand’s trademark luxury alongside top-notch “service aesthetics”, according to the release.

Managing director Todd Runkle said on behalf of Gensler Austin that it will likely feature around 1,000 suites and oversized guest rooms. Fairmont said that the 50-story structure will also boast some 70,000 square feet of event space and meeting facilities and will be the second-biggest building in downtown Austin.

MTFG president Doug Manchester said that Fairmont is one of the industry’s most luxurious and strongest names. He added that he project would set a new benchmark for convention centre hotel properties around the world and that his firm had “diligently” searched for the right hotel operator for the project and that Fairmont was “just that”.
