Hotel giant InterContinental Hotels Group has opened two new UK properties just ahead of the London 2012 Olympics.

The UK-based conglomerate said in a press release issued at the weekend that it had launched the Holiday Inn London Stratford City as well as the Staybridge Suites London Stratford City amid a joint venture in cooperation with Patron Capital and Cycas Hotel Partners.

Investors aim for a boost on investment return via the start of the Olympics late next month. Both facilities are situated in one structure in Westfield Stratford City adjacent to the London Olympic Park and Westfield Shopping Centre, which according to the press release is “Europe’s largest” shopping facility.

IHG chief executive Angela Brav said in a statement that the two new properties were a key part of the regeneration of east London, which has been prompted by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. She added that the launch had created 120 jobs and that IHG now has more than 40,000 guest rooms in its hotel brands across the United Kingdom.

Similarly, John Wagner of Cycas Capital BV said that both hotels were at the centre of one of Westfield Stratford City’s most important new developments. He said they would offer quality accommodation for business and leisure travellers prior to, during and after the Olympics.
