Reports said at the weekend that the brand is set to construct a new £32 million property in tandem with Wakefield-based investment firm GB Group Holdings. The property will be built near the Leeds Arena and Leeds Metropolitan University's Rose Bowl.

The 14-storey facility will feature more than 200 bedrooms. Officials said the project will take about two years to complete; the opening date is slated for mid-2015, according to reports. Upon opening, it will be the tallest hotel structure in the city of Leeds and will bring 100 full-time jobs to the local economy, in addition to 300 temporary positions during the construction phase.

The new property will compliment the brand’s existing Leeds hotels, which include the Doubletree by Hilton at Granary Wharf and the existing flagship Hilton near the city’s main rail station.

Brandon Riley said on behalf of GB Group Holdings that the goal of the new facility is to become Leeds’ premier leisure and business property within a stone’s throw of the arena. He added that Leeds Arena management has been a “major catalyst” behind the development process.
