Hotel giant Hilton is to open a new Doubletree by Hilton property in the Saudi capital.

According to an official press release published on Tuesday, the new hotel is designed to further strengthen the brand’s Arabian presence and will be the third Doubletree property in the city of Riyadh.

The facility is slated to open in 2015 and will feature more than 300 guestrooms, officials said in the release.

The project comes in cooperation with local investment firm Abdullah Abdul Aziz Al Rajhi & Sons. The organisation’s owner Abdullah Abdul Aziz Al Rajhi told the media that Riyadh remains one of the world’s busier destinations for business travellers, largely due to the strong accounting sector in Saudi Arabia. He went on to add however that leisure travel is growing in the city and that new hotel properties need to cater to all manner of travellers.

Similarly, Hilton Worldwide’s president Rudi Jagersbacher said in a statement that he was “delighted” to announce further progress amid the company’s Middle East expansion effort. He added that Hilton would have 20 hotels open in Saudi Arabia by 2017, making it one of the strongest groups in the region.
