Hotel conglomerate Hilton is to significantly expand its presence in Australia.

Officials from the US-based hotelier announced on Thursday that Hilton Worldwide is to introduce its Doubletree by Hilton chain Down Under by rebranding three properties in the Northern Territory: DoubleTree by Hilton Esplanade Darwin, DoubleTree by Hilton Alice Springs and DoubleTree by Hilton Darwin.

Hilton Worldwide’s vice president of Australasian operations, Ashley Spencer, said in a statement that his company was “delighted” to finally bring the Hilton by Doubletree to the Australian market. He went on to say that the firm has been looking to expand into the Northern Territory for some time.

Likewise, Doubletree by Hilton’s top executive John Greenleaf told the media that the move marks the brand's entrance into its 30th country and that he was looking forward with bringing its renowned “caring service” to Australian guests. He noted that every guest will receive a warm chocolate-chip cookie upon checking in.

Hilton officials said that the new properties were aimed largely at leisure travellers but are also well poised to cater to the region’s thriving mining industry.
