Anyone looking for somewhere a little different to go on their holiday this year may want to visit the location of a country that has fallen foul of erratic and expensive flights. Until recently, it has been a very expensive trip for those on a tight budget; there are plenty of more inexpensive places to go to and with a far greater choice of when to travel.

Malta has changed a great deal since the 80’s and has included more boutique hotels and night clubs than you might think.

British Airways has been flying to Malta since the late 1940’s and has now decided to recommence scheduled flights to the island having stopped these in 1989 and again in 2009. The airline will begin daily flights to and from Gatwick from March 30 and the good news is that ticket prices will start from £55 one-way.

One person who is very pleased with the new is Malta's Tourism Minister Karmenu Vella who said: 'This will further strengthen our links with London and beyond and will be a big help to the leisure and conference sectors.'
